New Work

Sue Kennington
14 Mar – 13 Apr 2019
For the inaugural exhibition in the new gallery space Sid Motion is pleased to present a two-person show of new works by Sue Kennington and Fleur Simon.
The exhibition brings together oil paintings by Kennington and poured epoxy resin works by Simon.
Simon, who has recently graduated, and Kennington, who has exhibited extensively, are paired in this exhibition to celebrate their shared interest in the exploration of colour as language through minimal forms.
In her career, Kennington has dedicated much time to the study of light and colour; experimenting with the endless combinations, contrasts and interactions with a passion and dedication to her materials. Simon’s works are about spontaneity – striking a balance between chaos and control – as the resin is poured and manipulated onto the surface, the medium is guided in to place under the hand of the artist.
For both artists the paintings are left as traces of the acts of movement, control and flow: studies executed with an economy of gesture and sensorial refinement.
